The St. George's Caye Aquarium rehabilitated two Hawksbill sea turtles and released them back into the ocean on Saturday, March 1st -- and we were there to film it!
We are so excited to share with you all a heart warming story that began on the beach of St. George's Caye Resort. Struggling to stay alive, our staff found a very small baby turtle tangled in the sea grass one morning, two years ago. The turtle was taken up the beach to the St. George's Caye AquariumÂÂ where we knew Karl and his son could nurture the turtle until she was strong and healthy enough to return to her home - the ocean! Another turtle being cared for at the Aquarium was joined by the new tiny female hawksbill turtle. In this video you will see both mature and thriving turtles being released at the Barrier Reef just east of St. George's Caye. Ashley was there to film the event and remarked that "It was a very special experience to watch that tiny turtle grow and then be able to take her back to where she belogs. Maybe one of these days we will see her while we are diving."
Hawksbill sea turtles are an endangered species and we are so excited to be a part of this happy story and share it with you!
December 2013 St. George's Caye Resort had the honor of hosting a small cast and crew from Motion TV*. The men spent four days exploring, discovering and ulimately filming a beautiful episode featuring Belize's many attractions. The episode is due to air this week on February 6th and we are very excited to share it with you.
The Belize episode of Motion TV features a "guest hiker" - Shiloh Janes from New York - who is a viewer and fan of the show chosen to experience something he'd never done before; to take him out of his daily routine of too much work. But really, the entire crew seemed to have experienced a great world of many new experiences. From the banks of historic St. George's Caye to the Lamanai Mayan Ruins to the depths of the underwater world - new possibilities abound as Barry and Cornell take the crew to see Belize!
CHECK OUT THE TEASER VIDEO:
All of us at St. George's Caye Resort thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the cast and crew. A first class group of men whom we will remain friends with for years to come. We have had the pleasure of other television crews and find most boring and disenchanting. Greg, David and Shiloh are authentic and no parts of this show are fake. It is a refreshingly honest gem of television suitable for your entire family. Not to mention itÂÂ shows the diverse and friendly country Belize trurly is! :)
The inspiring episode reminds us all how important it is to take time out to explore our amazing world. It reminds us that work and money are not everything. And it leaves you wanting to go outside to re-discover the earth around you.
Join us in supporting Belize and healthy, authentic living by watching and sharing the episode with your friends and family!

Before & After Photos
Our dedicated and talented staff has been hard at work for weeks building this incredible outdoor space, battling rain and winds along the way. Carlos, Jose and Fredis led the crew of talented young Belizeans. All materials and labour were purchased locally in Belize. The covered deck features a stunning white mahogany paneled ceiling. Belizean specialty woods Santa Maria and Chechem, or black poisonwood, make the strong railing and foundation while beautiful non-slip tiles finish out the floor.
We hope you agree the outdoor oceanfront dining is a great addition to the St. George's Caye Experience! You can view more photos of our staff building the deck and the finished work of art here, onÂÂÂ Facebook.
